HistoryIn 1916, the beginnings of Nob Hill were platted as the eastern half of University Heights. In 1925, the area switched from a private water system to being run by the City. In 1926, the Monte Vista Addition was added on to the site that would become Nob Hill and by 1930 the Monte Vista Elementary School was built. In the quarter century before WWII, there was a large demand for houses and construction boomed. With the arrival of WWII, development halted as the materials were diverted to the war effort. When the war ended in 1945, many new residents arrived and the Broadmoor addition was platted. This housing development continued to grow into the 1950’s and was completed in mid-1950. Since then there have been only a few homes built. By 1987, the City of Albuquerque completed the Nob Hill Sector Development Plan. The area was made up of historic roadside architecture along Central Ave and historic residential areas in the neighborhoods, becoming the area’s most visible and positive assets.
